Riner tells us, "Time Flies depicts two figures, a parent and child, sleeping in a boat surrounded by water. The water represents time and the unknown and the boat the journey each of us is on. I wanted to communicate how fleeting time is and how we should take breaks from our busy lives to cherish moments with our children "doing nothing."
The poem by the artist reads:
We float on the ever changing river of time. Swirling memories of bedtime stories, butterfly kisses and little shoes remind us of our temporal residence. Hold on tight. Fight the temptation to close your eyes. Ride the waves as they crest and fall.Love, live, give. Tempus fugit.
